Cedar forest in Katanami
This area is designated as the Kyoto Tamba Plateau National Park.
In the headwaters of the Katanami River in Keihoku, there are Fukujodai-sugi ceders, which are designated as a natural monument by Kyoto Prefecture, and in Miyama, there is a solemn and deep forest called the Ashiu Research Forest where untouched nature remains and giant trees of several hundred years old are growing in clusters.
